Sayler's Adventures in Mexico

Hola amigos,

It’s me Sayler and I am going to tell you about my last two weeks in Guanajuato (Gto.). We got in at about 8 o’clock p.m., Thursday, October 3. After the property manager showed us around, we went to a restaurant called Truco 7 it was great. We got home at 9:30. All the next morning we unpacked. Our car was really messy from six days of driving.

After a few days of exploring the town, we went to the Mummy Museum. The first mummy we saw was a doctor who died from old age in 1865. He still had his clothes on. Then we moved on to the babies. Some of them died because they were twins and did not have enough strength. The smallest was a 6- month-old fetus. It was 6 in. tall. We also saw a woman who was buried alive.
"
On Sunday we took a drive. On the drive we saw a herd of cows and a herd horses. The biggest cow had horns one foot long and was no more then seven feet away. The horses were about 80 feet away. On the way we found a small river. Then on Tuesday we went back and had a picnic at the river. We spent three hours there then we went home.

Last night we went to a traditional Gto dance. It was awesome. It there was lots of bright colors and big puffy dresses. My favorite part was when some men dressed up as Spaniards did a tap-dancing solo.

Yesterday we went to Leon the leather capital of the country. They sold every skin, from snake to goat and every thing in-between. I really wanted a cow skin but my mom said, “later”. They also had calfskinL. They also had lots and lots of zapatos, or shoes, in Spanish.
"
In Leon, they also had lots of Day of the Dead stuff. We got some stuff for our altar. An altar is a traditional Day of the Dead thing. You find a place were you want it (we did it on a book shelf) then you put stuff that reminds you of your loved ones. For example if your great, great grandma loved sugar so you would put up sugar and sweet treats.

Hope to hear from you! Happy Halloween!!

  3. Hey Sayler its Cammie, your trip to Mexico sounds fantastic! I love the ocean and was wondering if you and your family have gone to the beautiful and awesome beach of Mexico? The atmosphere of the new city of Mexico must be exciting! Like the Day of the Dead, the Mummy Museum and hearing what the the people that live there truly sound like all over the city!

Even though you didn't know me that well it was so awesome that I got to here what wonderful times you have been having so far! I really hope you post more terrific stuff about your time in Mexico!

  5. Hi Sayler,

It's Milan. It sounds like you are having an awesome trip so far. I am surprised you got to Mexico on the 3rd of this month. We had a great time at Bandon and the boys pranked the girls with fake love letters.

My old school had Day of the Dead. I did my Grandpa and my Uncle. We took it seriously also. Everybody had to do Spanish there because the principal thought it would be a better education. She was right. Isn't Day of the Dead depressing but happy at the same time??? Who did you celebrate?

Tomorrow the class is going to Eagle Mill Farm with Kari's class to get pumpkins. My buddy is Natalie. Did you know we lost two students this year? John left to Grants Pass and a new boy Oden (I think you might of meet him before you left) left. We got two new girls in our class. There names are Alora and Zakiah. Zakiah came from Miami, Florida, and I don't know where Alora came from.

Well, later Sayler. Hey, that rhymes!

Then they wrote to the boys pertending it was from the girls. Are you going to school in Mexico? Have you Surfed, boggie boarded or swam with dolpphins on the coast of Mexico? Latley we have been making prerzi's on tide-pool ceatures. Ivan [our student teacher is really fun and sings pretty cool and sometimes weird sons dearing reading time on the flute.

Have you made any friends yet? I hope you learn all new and cool things in Mexico. Maybe even spanish=^-^= Do you have any favorite food places or shops? We have a lot of new people like Cammie, Zakiya, Abbie/ Abigail, and Alora. We went to Bandon which was loads of fun... but i think going to Mexico kind of makes that sound like going to medford! Happy Halloween even though i am pretty sure the only thing like that they celebrate is day of the dead. i admit i am jealous , but still hope you have a great time.

    1. Hi Sayler,

This is Miles. I hope you are having fun. I am going to be a funny clown for Halloween. I am going trick or treating with Joe. I'v been having weird dreams about you. One was where I was @ the ymca and you came up to me and i asked you why you weren't in Mexico, and you said that you were coming back for halloween.
Another one was where you were walking back from mexico and you had sweet shades on , then weirdly it turned into a weird fight.

      bye,

      miles =^-^=

  12. Hi Sayler its Asa!!! Wow it sound so fun in Mexico I wish I could be there. It has been great here we have gone on tons of field trips, it would of been so fun at the coast with you.

We did a lot of stuff at the coast like go to the south slough, a very amazing and beautiful and fantastic place with tons of animals and plants.

We also went to face rock where on the side of a rock you can see a face!! it was really cool. Then we went to the tide pools. The tide pools where almost my favorite part. When we got there we all got split up into groups i was in a group with Gabe, Allie, Joshua, Talia and me. We where all loking for a good spot to start when we found a huge crake in the rocks that we went through. Where we saw a amazing view of the ocean and 2 rocks that looked perfect for tide pooling. so we all ran over there and went on the first rock. There where tons of sea anemones and we all got to touch them. But soon we got board and left to the next rock. We where standing on the rock when water suddenly came from behind me. i turned around there was water there to soon the water engulfed the whole rock and we where standing in one foot deep water!! Now sayler i do not want to bore you so i will skip to the next day

I woke up to the sound of packing it was time to go to breakfast. breakfast was amazing with a choice of pancakes, sausages, french toast and a lot of other stuff to. Me i had 5 pancakes. After breakfast we had to leave to the light house. Now this was my favorite part. we all got split up into two groups one went to the beach the other the light house. I started out on the beach. We all played capture the flag in the sand bare foot!!!! It was so fun!!! After that i got switched to the lighthouse group that part was kinda boring, but thats just my opinion.

the time you have been gone has been really fun right now i am writing this right before are halloween party. We are about to make carmel apples delicious i wish you could be here. and also when are you coming back. I hope you are having fun in Mexico.

    Sincerely Asa :D

  13. Hey Sayler, It's your old pal, Jordan,

Before I say anything, I just want to say: I MISS YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! Okay, so now to the point. You're one of my bestest friends (even that's not a word, it's true). I really can't wait 'til you come back. We went to Bandon, Oregon to go on the beach and discover a rock in the ocean that is in the shape of a face. We all really really miss you and I hope you have a good time in Mexico.

I hope the mummies in the museum were really cool. And I bet they were because when I went to New York I went to a huge museum with bone from millions and millions of years ago. So I hope you have a great time in Mexico. May the Force be with you.

    See you later, Saylergator.

    Sincerely, Your Friend, Jordan

  14. Dear Sayler,
Wow you are lucky you get no homework and you get to go to the mummy museum ah. I know a joke about mummies so a kid with a french accent lost his mom and he asks a person, "I lost my mummy." and the person said "What you lost your mummy? I will take you to your mummy." and he took him to the mummy museum.

    Sincerely,
    Isaac
